Eye Makeup of the Week 004

This week I've decided to use some of my depoted shadows, all centered around one of my favorite colors to wear: bronze! Some palettes I've had previously either were to bulky to store properly, or I used up some of the other colors and depoted what was left. I normally dislike ruining a cute palette but to save space, sometimes it's necessary. I keep all of my depoted shadows in a Z Palette.

From left to right we have Cocoa Star and Eclipse from the Too Faced Natural at Night palette, which was crushed and torn from a traveling incident. A lot of the shadows were ruined, but I managed to save a few including these two. Eclipse is a great all over color, while I use Cocoa Star in the outer corner and crease. Then we have Wet n Wild's Knock on Wood crease shade, and the last shade I chose is this lovely bronze taupe depoted from the Lorac Private Affair palette. It is no longer available, except for maybe eBay, but the packaging was so tall and bulky! I couldn't store it anywhere!

To go along with my shadow choices, I'm using the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Chocolate Suede, the Sonia Kashuk gel liner in Cocoa, and a black gel liner from Urban Decay. I love the Maybelline color tattoos, and the Sonia Kashuk liner is so nice and creamy. Unfortunately I don't think I will repurchase the Urban Decay liner, just because I find it very dry, even though its only a month old! I plan to use it up, however.

What looks are you going to put together this week?

September Ipsy Bag

Ipsy is a beauty box service created by world famous Michelle Phan. A beauty box is a monthly subscription service that sends you beauty samples and occasionally full sized items to try for a single fee every month. Ipsy charges only ten dollars a month. Ipsy also offers deals for the products you try. For example, if you go to the Pacifica website and order something, Ipsy provides a code for you to receive twenty percent off your purchase. I've been subscribed for two or three months now.

Every month Ipsy has a theme for their bag, and this month it was 'Street Style'. When looking at the contents of my bag I didn't really think of street style except for the eyeliner and the bag itself. The bag is really appealing to me, a nice silver gunmetal color, with square studs across the top. What I received the bag is:

01 CAVIAR CC Cream 10-in-1 Complete Correction Hair Perfector This hair cream reminds me of the It's a Ten products, because on the back is a list of ten things that this hair perfector will do. I do not care to much for the scent, but I will try it out when my other leave in cream is finished. The product is a very decent size.

02 Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Brush (not pictured) I've never tried anything from Crown Brush before, I immediately tried it out for my makeup that day. I love this brush! Very soft and no hair fallout. I'm looking forward to trying more things from Crown Brush! And with the Ipsy deal of thirty percent off twenty five dollars or more, it will also be easy on my wallet!

03 Hikari Lipstick in Cabernet Unfortunately I will have no use of this item what so ever, as I don't wear lipstick. I will be passing this on to someone. This product is full size. Ipsy has a little quiz you do so they know what type of items your interested in, and I do not have lipstick listed as something I want to receive, but I understand its a company that has to cater to millions of subscribers and every bag will not be perfect.

04 Pacifica Natural Water-Proof Eye Pencil in Gun Metal I see Pacifica products at Target all the time, I've just never thought to stop and look! I'm always up for trying eyeliner, especially when I don't have one in this color range! This product is a little sample pencil.

05 Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser This face wash claims to be for all skin types, which is always ideal, and is fragrance fee, another bonus. This product is such a large sample tube, I think its full sized! I'm always up for trying new face washes, so this will definitely be given a shot after I finish my current cleanser.

I give this bag three out of five stars for the brush, eyeliner, face cleanser and the bag itself!

Do you subscribe to Ipsy, or a beauty box subscription Which one(s)?

Eye Makeup of the Week 003

A little late in posting my eye makeup of the week, but I just received this palette in the mail yesterday so I automatically switched to using it! The Tarte Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette v2, $38. Apparently I purchased this at the right time, as it seems to be no longer on sale on Tarte's website or Sephora. I've linked it to a review on Temptalia.

I think I've made a great choice in buying this palette. I've only tried a few things from Tarte and this is my first large palette from them, though I do own a quad. The quality of the shadows reminds me a lot of Lorac; buttery soft, a little bit of fall out. I love that the palette is half bronzey warm toned colors, and the other half are nice cool taupey shades. You get ten shimmers and six matte, which I find to be a perfect balance.

Like all the palettes I own, I tend to go for the more darker shades to wear, so the pale shades most likely will not be touched much except to highlight my brow bone and inner corner.

I love how bright and thin the packaging is! Its a sturdy cardboard package, so I doubt it would serve well when traveling. Its one of the prettiest pieces I own in my makeup collection.

Were you lucky enough to get a hold of this palette?

Wishful 001

I have a small but sizable wishlist growing at Sephora. Though I'm currently on a no buy ban (after I placed an order the other day of course), as my boyfriend and I are moving in a few months, so every penny we can save is very important. But it doesn't hurt to window shop and dream right?

01 Clinique's All About Shadow in Black Honey. I purchased the Clinique gel liner in Black Honey and absolutely love it! The color is a beautiful blackened wine that goes so well with my blue-grey eyes. Black Honey is Clinique's signature color and they have a variety of products in the Black Honey scheme including a gel liner, eye shadow, lipstick and nail polish.
02 Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk. I've been having a love affair with serum's and face oils for a while now, and this one caught my eye. It has quite a hefty price on it, but considering how I only use a drop or two every night of my current oil and with how long that's lasted me, I know I will be enjoying this bottle for a very long time.
03 Tarte Rain-forest After Dark palette. This palette is just so beautiful! However, it wouldn't be very wise for me to purchase, as I do not wear bronzer, or blush. Buying the palette alone for just the shadows would be  money waster. Perhaps I'll look into eBay to see how cheap I can get it....
04 Clinique's Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. I love cleansing oil to take off my makeup. I'm currently finishing up the Sephora brand's, and have the Garnier version on backup to try. I was looking at the Clinique cleanse off oil, then this caught my eye. I'd never tried a balm before and after reading all the rave reviews, I will definitely be purchasing this after I finish all my cleaning oils.
05 Kat Von D Five Piece Brush Set. This set has been on my list for about two years now. I honestly have no idea why I haven't purchased it. At fifty five dollars, it's about ten dollars a brush which isn't uncommon for a high end brush. The design is lovely and I adore that case. Very nice for when traveling. Maybe I'll get this (finally!) as a Christmas present to myself.
06 Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eyeshadow. I'm just very curious about this creme shadow! I really need to test it in store before I attempt to buy.

Whats on your current wishlist?

Lip-balms in Rotation

I'm quite naughty when it comes to remembering to wear lip balm. Countless times I've slipped a tube in my pocket or purse, determined to apply it throughout the day... Just to come home and empty my pockets realizing not once did I put any on! I suppose like anything we do constantly it's all forming a routine.. Which I have yet to do! Though I am terrible at slathering the stuff on, there are a few I manage to remember about by keeping them in key places.

Nivea's Caramel Cream Kiss lip butter is the most delicious smelling lip product ever. It smells like a nice chewy caramel candy! I usually smooth this butter onto my lips after I preform my night time skin care routine as it's nice and thick and sinks into my lips. I keep it stored by my eye cream so I can't miss it! Definitely on my list to buy again!

Lypsyl Intense Protection lip balm is a balm I was curious to try after reading rave reviews from fellow blogger, Hollie Eats Lipstick. While this balm was a lot better than others I've tried, it wasn't dazzling. It did smell nice and feel good on the lips, I just didn't feel like it super moisturized my lips. Would I repurchase?? Maybe.

EOS Moisturizing Sweet Mint lip balm is a balm I picked up to carry in my purse to try and remember to wear lip balm all day. Does it work? Sometimes. Which is better than not at all! It has a nice sweet mint flavor, and sinks into my lips alright. The packaging is cute and the formula is thin. It isn't the most moisturizing but it does get the job done! Repurchase? Undecided.

Whats your favorite lip balm or butter?

Eye Makeup of the Week 002

Every week, I use one eye shadow palette or a bunch of single eye shadows for the week to try and get the most use out of my collection. I attempt to not neglect any of my eye shadows, and I feel that doing this really maximizing my usage so things aren't going to waste! This week I decided to use my Kat Von D True Romance Poetica palette, which unfortunately is no longer being sold in Sephora where Kat Von D's line is exclusive. The link above leads to Amazon where it's running for $45, however it only cost me $36. I'm sure it is also available on eBay, or you may Google around for shadow dupes.

While this palette is one of my favorites to wear, sometimes the purples alone can get tiring. I love a palette that has all the shadows you need for complete looks, but occasionally I enjoy incorporating single shadows to broaden what I can do!  A little sample of the Bare Minerals BB cream eye shadow I received in an ipsy bag turned out to be such a wonderful primer and base. Nars Ondine shadow, a purplely bronze shade totally unique from anything I've seen before. NYX Iced Mocha , a nice everyday bronze, and Essence Mono Shadow in Party All Night, one of my favorite taupe shimmer shades.

All of these shadows have a lovely warm bronzed undertone that I find to go so well with the purples Wonderland, Shiba, and Babe. I normally do not stray towards bright colors, but Chandler (the orange), adds such a great warmth to any look I chose when using a little bit blended into my crease. The black shade Tijuana has little golden glitters mixed in, which looks so nice when smudged along my upper lash line into a nice cat eye.

What single shadow(s) or palette(s) are you currently obsessed with?

Eye Makeup of the Week 001

Every week, I use one eye shadow palette or a bunch of single eye shadows for the week to try and get the most use out of my collection. I try not to neglect any of my eye shadows, and I feel that doing this really maximizing my usage so things aren't going to waste! This week I decided to use my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette.

I was very lucky when purchasing my Naked 3. Sephora was having their annual twenty percent off sale going on around the same time the Naked 3 was released, so instead of spending fifty two dollars I believe I spent around thirty eight! As I was linking the palette to this post, I realized the Naked palettes are now at a staggering fifty four dollars! I remember when the first Naked palette was released, I believe it was only forty four dollars! Its jumped ten dollars in price in just four years!

I wasn't sure about this palette at first; the pink tones were definitely something I was not used to wearing on my face, let alone my eyes! But the more I use it, the more I fall in love. The last six shadows in the pallet are my favorites. Nooner, Liar, Factory, Mugshot, Darkside, and Blackheart are always on my eyes! Special shout out to Strange for being a wonderfully unique highlight!

The other shades in the palette I have such a hard time working with; very glittery and crumbly they get everywhere! So I hope Urban Decay makes singles for the eye shadows I love so when I hit pan on them I can just repurchase the single color. I would hate to have to buy a whole new pallet for a few colors!

How do you make the most of your makeup collection?
Have you tried the Naked 3? What are your thoughts?
